Member Countries: ISTC Matches Up Scientists, Entrepreneurs and Investors in TomskThe first ISTC Technology Outreach event was organized 21-23 April in Tomsk. The aim of the event was the matchmaking of CIS scientists-inventors, private companies and investors in order to promote commercialization of new technologies. As a result 11 matches were created with agreements reached on the involvement of each party to potentially start innovation companies. The new Technology Outreach approach places the entrepreneur between the developer and the investor as a driving force for the project. From the viewpoint and experience of ISTC, an entrepreneur-developer couple promises to provide more accurate business planning and thus increases chances of obtaining capital from investors. Traditionally, developer with an R&D project proposal would go directly to investors to propose an idea, which would often be turned down for two main reasons: the developer’s scientific language and lack of business credibility in the eyes of investors. The first day of the event developers presented their technologies to entrepreneurs, the second day focused on matchmaking them and the third day, pairs presented a joint business project to investors. ![]() In total, the event was attended by:
