Clinical trials on “Ronbetal”, a registered trademark of recombinant human interferon-beta (rhIFN-b), which was developed within the ongoing project #2909, started on January 1, 2008 at the leading neurological hospitals of the Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy. Ronbetal is the first domestic medical preparation to be used against multiple sclerosis, expected to be 40% less expensive than its foreign analogues. Currently the life long treatment costs $20,000-30,000 per year for approximately 120,000-150,000 patients registered in Russia.
The technology for its GMP manufacturing has been developed under the project as well.
