Intellectual Property Rights



The course aims to provide all levels of expertise, including non-specialists, with a general understanding of the key rules of intellectual property usage in business, focusing on the applied and conceptual knowledge required for intellectual protection.
The course on Intellectual Property consists of a study book and computer multimedia program (CD-ROM) that can be used on the learner’s personal computer as well as on the automatic “DOTSENT” system for remote training, allowing entries to the training software to be made from any location that is equipped and which has access to computer networks. The course contains eight parts with interactive lectures and tests.

The course has a full database of regulations in IPR. This base is to be updated.

The key aims of the course are to provide the following:
• Counsel on patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, as well as on new concepts embodied in the intellectual content of digital information.
• Provide intellectual property advice during transactions, registration preparation and litigation for a wide range of domestic and international clients as they create, acquire, register, divest and litigate intellectual property rights on a global basis.
• Provide substantial experience in patent, trademark, copyright, privacy, trade secret, trade regulation, unfair competition, antitrust, and other intellectual property matters.

A learner will gain practical skills and knowledge in:
• Determining the status of the results of own science and technology activity and evaluating one’s own possible place in the intellectual property market in accordance with the classification of intellectual property objects
• Learning procedures and rules of registration of intellectual property rights and patent legislation that are an integral part of the legislation of most countries
• Learning the procedures and rules of the registration of trademarks, company names and trade secrets that are an integral part of the legislation of most countries
• Learning procedures for choosing a decision-making strategy on the need to protect research results in science and technology organizations
• Choosing fundamental trends and stages of the commercialization of innovations. The learner will gain knowledge on how to determine goals, tasks and stages of making inventory of the results of intellectual activity and objects of intellectual property
• Choosing the necessary form of an agreement for licensing the results and research. The learner will be able to determine the preparation schedule for making an agreement
• Legal aspects of the ISTC regular and partner agreements concerning distribution of rights to the project results and interaction with the ISTC on issues dealing with intellectual property protection of project results
