How can I obtain the contact information of the developers of the technology that interests me?

To obtain contact information of technology developers, send a request using the appropriate button in the pages technology profile and technology description of the database.

When and what information will be provided in response to a request?

Upon receiving a request for contact information, the database administrator sends it to the representative of the developer of the technology. Within two days either the representative will respond, or a database administrator will provide the Applicant with the contact information.

What are the costs of obtaining information?

As the ISTC is a not-for-profit organization, access to the database and technology developer contacts is free of charge.

Who owns the technology provided by the database and developed through research funded by the ISTC?

Technologies, represented in this database, are developed under R&D projects funded by the ISTC, and they belong to the developer institutions.

What are the rights of developers and ISTC Funding countries over existing intellectual property?

The developer institution is the owner of all worldwide rights to intellectual property created in the frame of the research funded by the ISTC. However, the governments of Canada, Japan, EU, Korea, and USA are granted non-exclusive royalty bearing license with the right of sublicensing in all these countries. The government that financed specific research obtains more rights on its territory for the IP coming out of this research - it is granted exclusive royalty free license with the right of sublicensing.

What does each option mean in the search section “Technology Development Status”?

Ready for production – the technology is ready for use in production including availability of necessary documentation
Prototype – the functionality of technology has been demonstrated by the creation of industrial product available in single or limited quantity
Demonstration – the functionality of technology has been demonstrated in laboratory conditions
Research - investigation of the proposed concept has not been completed

What does each option mean in the search section “IP Protection”?

Protected by patents - the key novelties are protected by a patent or patent application (national, or PCT, or in the territories of other countries)
Protected as know-how - the key novelties are protected as trade secrets (“know-how”)
Software is registered - state registration has been obtained or requested for the developed software
Protection is not formalized – there is no key novelty or patent application has not been filed yet

Who has prepared the technology information presented in the database?

Technology assessment and descriptions, including those in the database, have been performed by external experts on technology transfer under contract with the ISTC and in communication with the developers.

Who are the technology transfer experts, who have performed the technology assessment and prepared descriptions deployed in the database?

To assess the potential of technologies and prepare their description for the database, the ISTC has contracted local professionals involved in practical work on technology transfer and operating in the region of the development.

What is the role of the ISTC in the development and exploitation of technology deployed in the database?

All the technology represented in the database, has been developed under R&D projects funded by the ISTC.
If necessary, the ISTC can provide organizational, advisory and financial support for the technology promotion. To discuss specific proposals one should contact the ISTC using the addresses found in the section About us.

What is the ISTC?

The ISTC - the International Science and Technology Center – is an intergovernmental organization established in 1992 for the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The ISTC coordinates the efforts of numerous governments, international organizations and private sector companies, providing weapons scientists from Russia and other countries from the Commonwealth of Independent States new opportunities for international cooperation.
The ISTC Secretariat is located in Moscow.
